PALMYRA HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION
Judy Zanin, Historic Preservation Commissioner, Palmyra, NY, tells the world that the World War field gun in Palmyra's Village Park is just one of the spots in this 19th Century Erie Canal Village, that should be preserved to tell the story of Palmyra, Wayne County and the Erie Canal. In the background can be seen the  Romanesque/ Italianate Palmyra Village Hall, 1866-1868, designed by Horatio Nelson White.

National Trust for Historic Preservation  as part of  National Preservation Month.

The Historic Preservation Commission meets on the second Thursday of the month at 7:30 PM in the Sexton Building. The Commission includes: Mitch Smith, Christine Daly, Judy Zanin, Jim Elliott, and Michael Haskins.

Ninth Period History Class is an ongoing program of the Preservation Commission, featuring a variety of history themed presentations

Cynthia Howk, Landmark Society of Western New York, meets with members of Palmyra Historic Preservation Commission at its April 9th meeting to discuss Commission procedural matters and  the celebration of National Preservation Month each May. Present are Judy Zanin, Mike Haskins, Jim Elliott, Cynthia Howk, and Christine Daly. The Commission meets next on Thursday, May 14th, at 7:00 PM in the Sexton Building. The public is welcome.

Bonnie Hays (right), Executive Director of Historic Palmyra was the featured speaker at the first session of  the Ninth Period History Class series of preservation related presentations at Muddy Waters Cafe on January 8, 2009. A second presentation will occur in March. Watch for details.
