PALMYRA DEVELOPMENT
The Village of Palmyra has received word that it will receive $1.44 million  in federal stimulus funding to reconstruct Canandaigua Street/NYS Route 21. Brian Sherman, NYS DOT, will be working with village officials and village engineer Bob Raeman on this project. Because of the location of Palmyra Elementary School, the village is working with the Pal-Mac School District to consider improvements in this area.

Palmyra is open for business and we would like YOU to be part of it! We have available:

  • Low interest loans for expansion and start-ups

  • Matching grants for facade painting and signage

  • Technical support for paperwork

The mission of the Wayne County Business Council is to promote the development and success of existing business in cooperation with local chambers, local industries, and local government agencies. The Council is currently seeking volunteer business mentors across Wayne County. Click here to find out how you can help!

New Grant Received: Creating Residential, Commercial and Municipal Upper Floors  – The NYS Department of State has awarded this grant, in the amount of $54,500.00 (non-matching ) to the Genesee/Finger Lakes Regional Planning Council in conjunction with the Village of Palmyra to prepare a guidebook to explore issues, obstacles, and revitalization opportunities, and to present design strategies for renovating and filling vacant upper floors in commercial and mixed-use areas.

The Palmyra Canalside Nature Park has been proposed. The link will take you to a PDF version of the master plan for this park, located to the east of the marina.

Director of the Canal Corporation, Carmella Martello on the left, and Palmyra Mayor, Vicky Daly, imagine the proposed Canalside Nature Park during a tour of the land on August 2, 2006.

Mural: What a fabulous endeavor! Palmyra-Macedon High School students have come together under their art teacher's direction to paint a mural on an otherwise nondescript wall across from Palmyra's historic museums on Market Street. Take a look - it's a lot like a time capsule of our town's history. Numerous business owners and organizations have been helping out with pizza dinners, monetary support, and supplies. What a super, multigenerational and inter-organizational effort.
