Since 2006, the Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor has hosted an annual photo contest to capture the beauty, history, people, and distinctive character of the Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor. Winning images become the basis for our yearly calendar.

Over the years, the contest has helped us showcase the canal corridor and remind people of what makes it a unique place to celebrate and preserve.

Contest Categories
Judges will select winning images in four contest categories. Winning images will be featured in our 2015 calendar.

  • Bridges, Buildings, and Locks
  • Fun and Festivities
  • On the Water
  • Nature of the Canal

Author Reading & Signing
Saturday, July 25, local author Greg Campbell, will be at Village Bookmarket, 207 East Main Street, Palmyra, at 10:30 am introduce his new book, The Adventures of Phillip Mouse.

Phillip is a curious mouse and his curiosity has gotten him into a few scrapes before, but what started as any other day in the meadow, became one of the most extraordinary adventures anyone has ever know! Peril, surprise, friendship, betrayal, and more await for Phillip--and you--inside this book.

Greg will be reading from his new book as well as signing copies. Greg Campbell is many things: husband, father, son, brother, friend, Jesus follower, web developer/manager, author, musician, school bus driver, sports talk show host/producer, and more. He and his wife have recorded and released six albums of their original music (the sixth coming later in 2015), and he has published four books, the most recent being a children's novel, The Adventures of Phillip Mouse. Greg and his family reside in Palmyra, NY.

New York State Barge Canal Historic District

The Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor, the National Park Service Heritage Documentation Program and the New York State Canal Corporation, all working in partnership with the State Historic Preservation Office, have succeeded in the monumental task of listing the 450-mile New York State Barge Canal Historic District on the State and National Registers of Historic Places, the official list of properties significant in state and national history.
