1884 Palmyra Town Meeting
Minutes
At a meeting of the Town Board of Palmyra held Thursday Feb. 7th 1884
Present: Nelson Reeves Supervisor and Chairman
Geo. G. Jessup, W. S. Phelps, M. C. Finley, A. R. Gamble Justices

Meeting called to order by chairman on motion it was Resolved that eight hundred dollars be raised for the support of the Poor of said Town.
Mr. Phelps Com. Of Highways having read estimates from Bridge Manufactures and giving the testimony of Bridge experts that the two bridges over Mud creed were unsafe it was resolved that the voters of the Town of Palmyra at the next Town election make an appropriation or tax against said town for the following purposes, viz.
$5200 for the construction of two Iron Bridges and abutments over Mud Creek one at or near the N.Y.C. Depot the other at or near the W.S. and B. Depot at $800 for the support of the Poor.
On motion Board adjourned

At the Annual Meeting of the Board of Auditors, held Tuesday Feb. 26, 1884
Present---Nelson Reeves Supervisor

Mr. Jessup in the chair---Board presided to examine Sup. Reeves accounts which were found to be correct and a balance on hand in the Centingent Fund of $1612.36 and $1792.20 in the Dog Fund.
The Sup. then took the chair and Board proceeded to examine Excise Commissioners report which was adopted and ordered to be filed. The report showed that $603.58 had been turned over to the Sup. Mr. Phelps Road Comm. Then read his report which was adopted and ordered to be filed. It showed that there was $693.38 on hand. On motion Board adjourn until Saturday March 1st 1884.
The entire Board being present at the adjourned meeting Saturday Mar. 1st proceeded to examine Mr. Flower, Overseer of the Poor books, and vouchers which were found satisfactory and $374.58 to be on hand on motion Board adjourned.

Annual Town Meeting Minutes 1884
At the Annual Town Meeting held in and for the Town of Palmyra on Tuesday the 4th day
March 1884 Present , presiding

Frank H. Brown having become disqualified by reason of canvassing for reelection, Jno.
S. Scofield was appointed Clerk “pro tem” and giving taken the oath entered upon his duties as Poll Clerk.
Board formed an organization with Geo. G. Jessup as Chairman who at 8 o’clock declared the polls open and a proclamation made that they would close 4:30 P.M. At 2 o’clock
Meeting was called to order and the different Town Officers presented their reports which on motion were accepted and adopted. By vote of the meeting Com. Of Highways attention was called to the dangerous condition of the Highway south of the W.S.R.R. leading west from Lakey St.
