1882 Palmyra Town Meeting Minutes

At a meeting of the Town Board of the Town of Palmyra held in the Town Hall on Tuesday

Feby. 28 1882

Present:   H. M. Clark      Supervisor

Ornon Archer,  G. H. Foster,  Geo. G. Jessup,  W. S. Phelps      Justices

A. C. Hopkins      Clerk

 

On motion Ornon Archer was chosen Chairman.  The Board then proceeded to examine the report of the Highway Commissioners and on motion the report was approved and accepted

The Board then proceeded to examine the Supervisors accounts of School monies and found them correct.  Also examined the Dog Fund and found that correct and on motion the supervisors accounts were approved and accepted

The Board then examined the accounts of the Overseer of the Poor and found them correct and on motion the Board recommended that there be raised for the support of the poor for the ensuing year eight hundred dollars .

Moved and carried that the Board recommend that be transferred from the Dog Fund to the poor fund the sum of two hundred dollars. 

On motion the board then adjourned

Annual Town Meeting Minutes  1882

 

 

At the Annual Town Meeting held in and for the Town of Palmyra at the Village Hall on Tuesday

March Seventh 1882

Present Presiding:  Ornon Archer,    H. G. Foster,  Geo. G. Jessup,  Wm. S. Phelps   Justices

A. C. Hopkins   Town Clerk

 

On motion John M. Besley was chosen clerk Pro tem.   At eight o’clock A. M. the polls were declared open and a proclamation made that they would at five o’clock Town time.  At one o’clock the Supervisor read his report which was accepted and approved.

The Overseer of the poor then read his report which  on motion was accepted and approved.

The Commissioner of Highways read their report and on motion the report was accepted and approved.

The recommendation of the board of Auditors to raise eight hundred by tax for the support of the poor for the ensuing year was on motion adopted.

It was then moved and carried that Two hundred dollars be transferred from the dog fund to the contingent fund.

We the undersigned presiding officers at the Town Meeting held March seventh 1881 do hereby certify the following named persons were duly elected to the offices set opposite their respective names, they having received the highest number of votes for said office.

We do hereby appoint Edward Jarvis in District No. 1 and Anson Hilimire in District No. 2 in said town Inspectors of Election in said districts respectively to be associated with the two in said districts who have been this day elected Inspectors of Election they having received the highest number of votes next to those elected for said office

William H. Cuyler is here by appointed inspector of elections in and for District No. 1 in the town

Of Palmyra to supply the vacancy  occasioned by the absence of Edward F. Jarvis and William H. Cuyler is hereby appointed Inspector of Election to supply the vacancy occasioned thereby.
