Annual Town Meeting Minutes 1877
At the Annual Town Meeting held in the Village Hall in the Village of Palmyra, in and for the Town of Palmyra on Tuesday March 6, 1877 Present presiding
M. C. Finley, Wm. H. Southwick, Geo. G. Jessup, Henry J. Foster Justices
E. W. Cummings acting Town Clerk
At 8 o’clock A.M. the Polls of the election were declared open and the electors proceeded to vote
At 1 o’clock P.M. the Reports of the Supervisor , Commissioners of Highway and Town Auditors were read and adopted.
The following resolution was adopted
Resolved That the sum of Twenty five hundred Dollars ($2500.) be raised by tax upon the taxable inhabitants of the town of Palmyra for the support of the poor of said Town.
We the undersigned presiding officers of the Annual Town Meeting held March 6, 1877 do hereby certify that the following persons were duly elected to the offices set opposite their respective names they having received the highest number of votes for said office

We do hereby appoint E. W. Cummings in election district No. 1 and Fredk. L Reeves in election district No. 2 in said Town Inspectors of Election in said districts respectively, to be associated with the two in each of said Districts who have this day been elected Inspectors of Election. The said Edgar W. Cummings and Fred. L. Reeves each being one of the persons who received the highest number of votes for said office next to those elected.
We do also appoint Wm. L. Tucker one of the Board of Town Auditors to be associated with the two auditors elected he having received the highest number of votes for said office next to those so elected.
On motion board adjourned until Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock P.M. March 10, 1877

The undersigned Justices of the Peace in said Town, having neglected to declare the election of Andrew R. Gamble, who was duly elected constable at the late Town Meeting: do hereby appoint the said Andrew R. Gamble to be a Constable in said town.
Given under our respective hands and seals at Palmyra this 10th day of March 1877

Whereas a vacancy has occurred in the office of Collector of Taxes of the Town of Palmyra by reason of the death of Elias Truax heretofore elected to said office from said town. Now therefore by virtue of the power vested in us by statute in such cases made and provided we the undersigned Supervisor and Justices of said Town do hereby in order to fill the vacancy appoint George W. Wheeler Collector of said Town, to hold said office until the next succeeding annual Town Meeting of said Town as provided by law.
