Meeting Minutes
At a meeting of the Town Board of the town of Palmyra held at the office of M. C. Finley Esq. In the Village of Palmyra February 23, 1875
Present Robt. Johnston Supervisor
M. C. Finley, Geo. G. Jessup, Jas. Reeves, Wm. H. Southwick Justices
O. Durfee Town Clerk
The report of the Supervisor was examined and approved and same placed on file in Town
Clerks Office. Also the report of the Commissioners of Highway was examined and approved and same placed on file in Town Clerks Office
On motion the Board adjourned

Annual Town Minutes 1875
At the Annual Town Meeting held at the office of M. C. Finley Esq. In the Village of Palmyra, in and for the Town of Palmyra on the 2nd day of March 1875

At 8:30 oclock
A.M. the Polls of the Town Meeting were declared opened, by proclamation of
M. C. Finley and the electors proceeded to vote
At 1 oclock P.M. the Reports of the Supervisor and Commissioners of Highways were read and adopted. The following resolutions were then read and adopted
Resolved, That the sum of Twelve Hundred Dollars be raided by tax, for the support of the Poor of the town of Palmyra, for ensuing year
Resolved That the sum of Two Hundred Dollars be raised by tax, and paid to Darius Fuller, as compensation for damages to himself by the falling of an insecure bridge on the public highway in the eastern part of town.
Resolved That the sum of One Hundred Dollars be raised by tax to purchase books &
That may be needed or required in carrying out the Compulsory Education Act.
Resolved that the supervisor be authorized to put the tools, implements, weights,
Measures etc. belonging to the office of Town Sealer in proper order expending not to exceed
Twenty five Dollars therefore, the expense to be a charge against the Town and to be raised by tax upon said Town.
We the undersigned, presiding officers of the Annual Town Meeting, held in the Town of Palmyra on the 2nd day of March 1875, so hereby certify that the following persons were duly elected to the respective offices set opposite their names, they having redeived the greatest number of votes for each of the said offices respectively

We do hereby appoint Isaac G. Bronson in Election District No. 1 and Peter C. Howell in Election District No. 2, in said Town, Inspectors of Election in said Districts respectively, to be associated with the two in each of said Districts respectively, who have this day been elected Inspectors of Election for the ensuing year. The said Isaac G. Bronson and Peter C. Howell , each being one of the persons who received at said Town Meeting the highest number of votes respectively for said office of Inspector, next to the Inspectors so elected.
On motion adjourned to Saturday March 6, 1875

I, Robert Johnston, Supervisor of the town of Palmyra, and Oliver Durfee, Town Clerk of said Town do hereby certify that notice having been duly given to each of us and to James Reeves the Justice of the Peace having the shortest term to serve in said town, of the time & place town having met with us, the said Commissioners were duly classified by lot under our Superintendence as such Supervisor & Town Clerk by drawing lots for their different terms of office & the said Commissioners drew their respective lots as follows,
Ira Lakey drew one year
John M. Jones drew two years
William C. Beal drew three years

At a meeting of the Town Board of the Town of Palmyra, held at the office of M. C. Finley Esq.
In the Village of Palmyra on the 6th day of March 1875

George Harrison, Supervisor, elect presented his bond, which on motion of Board, was approved and accepted. George Harrison, having presented his resignation as Commissioner of Highways and the same having been accepted, on motion of Board Peter C. Howell was duly appointed in writing to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of said Harrison, for the unexpired term of one year. Thos. H. Chapman elected, and Peter C. Howell appointed, to the office of Commissioners of Highways presented their Bonds, which were approved and accepted by Geo. Harrison, Supervisor
On motion of Board the Town Clerk was authorized to purchase a Chattel Mortgage Register for the Town of Palmyra, the expense of the same to be paid by the Town
No further business appearing the Board adjourned sine die

The meeting was called for the purpose of discussing the matter of tax for support of the Poor and the law under which the Town is working---After some three hours of discussion, nothing important having been decided it was agreed to adjourn sine die

Resolved, That the resolution of this Board passed November 7th 1867 regarding the price of Physicians visits to the town poor be and is hereby rescinded and that the price for visits & medicine be left discretionary with the board.
