Minutes
At the Annual town Meeting held at the Village Hall in the Village of Palmyra, in and for the Town of Palmyra, on the 6th day of March, 1866. pursuant to adjournment, present presiding John A. Holmes, Wm. H. Southwick, Mark c. Finley & Jas. Reeves, Justices

And at 8 o’clock A.M. the polls of the Town meeting were declared opened by proclamation of John a. Holmes, and the electors proceeded to vote.
VOTED That four Constables be elected for the ensuing year
VOTED That the Supervisors report, as read be accepted and adopted
VOTED That the report of the Commissioner of Highways as read be accepted and adopted
The following resolution was read, accepted & adopted
Resolved That a tax of $500.00 be assessed and raised on the taxable property of the town of the town of Palmyra to be used in improving Rail Road Avenue from the Canal bridge near Jonas. B. Huxley’s Hotel in the Village to the Bridge crossing the Ganaigua Creek near the Depot
The following named persons were duly chosen overseers of Highways for the ensuing year at 3 o’clock P.M.

VOTED That when this meeting adjourns it adjourn to meet at the Village Hall in the Village of Palmyra, on the first Tuesday in March 1867, at 8 o’clock A.M.
We the undersigned officers presiding at the Annual Town Meeting held pursuant to call, or
Adjournment at the Village Hall in the Village of Palmyra Wayne County, State of New York on the 6th day of March 1866, do hereby certify that the following persons were duly elected to the respective offices set apposite their names, they having received the greatest number of votes for each of the said offices respectively

And that the foregoing minutes of said Town Meeting are in all respects correct-

We the officers presiding at the Annual Town meeting held in, and for the Town of Palmyra on the 6th of March 1866, do hereby appoint Saml. B. McIntyre in Election Dist. No.1 and Jotham H. Post in election Dist. No.2 in said Town Inspectors of election in said Districts respectively to be associated with the two in each of said Districts respectively, who have this day been elected Inspectors of Election for the ensuing year.
The said Saml. B. McIntyre and J. H. Post each being one of the persons who received at said town meeting the highest number of votes respectively for said office of Inspectors of election, next to the Inspectors so elected

At a special meeting of the Town Board of the town of Palmyra held at the office of
M. C. Finley, Saturday March 24th 1866. Members present;
Chas. I. Ferrin, Supervisor, M. C. Finley, Justice, J. A. Holmes, Justice, Wm. H. Southwick, Justice, Jas. Reeves, Justice.
On motion of John A. Holmes Esq. Warren Gorten of East Palmyra was appointed a Constable.
On motion, voted, that when the Overseer of the Poor be applied to for relief by Mrs Barron or Mrs Joslyn they be informed that they can receive no more assistance without they to to the County house
The Town Clerk was authorized to have notice to have Town Compass & Chain returned

At a meeting of the Town Board of the Town of Palmyra called by the Highway Commissioner held at the office of M. C. Finley Saturday June 9th 1866
Members Present; W. H. Southwick, James Reeves, John A. Holmes Justices
The following resolution was offered by W. H. Southwick and adopted.
Resolved that in the opinion of the board of Auditors of the Town of Palmyra it is expedient that the Commissioners of Highways of said Town accept ( $5), Seventy cents per day as a commutatim? In leiu of a days labor from the New York Central R. R. Co. that the interests of the Town will be subserved by thus doing at this time. Wm. W. Myrick Town Clerk
At a special meeting of the Town Board of the Town of Palmyra held at the office of John
A. A. Holmes Esq. August 10th 1866 members present; Chas. I. Ferrin, Supervisor

On motion of John A. Holmes the Town Board was organized as a Board of Health, there being a case of the cholera at the residence of Elijah Ennis of a Bohemian emigrant and child the former having died , the board were called upon to act in the matter,

On motion, John A. Holmes was elected chairman.
The Supervisor being absent, a motion was made and carried that this board adjourn till Saturday Mar. 2nd 1867 at one o’clock.
