1858 Palmyra Town Meeting
Minutes
At the Annual Town Meeting of the Town of Palmyra held pursuant to adjournment at the Eagle Hotel kept by William Doran March 2, 1858 Present presiding J. W. Corning, James Peddie,
A. Salisbury, Enos Pomeroy, Justices of the Peace and C. J. Ferrin Town Clerk
VOTED That four Constables be elected for the ensuing year
VOTED That the Supervisors report be accepted and adopted
VOTED That Three Hundred and fifty dollars be raised for the support of the poor the ensuing year
VOTED That the Commissioners of Highways report be accepted and adopted
VOTED That Seven Hundred and fifty dollars be raised in addition to the Two Hundred and fifty dollars allowed by law to meet repairs and indebtedness building bridges
VOTED That the Commissioner of Highways be empowered to make a loan of four thousand dollars (added between the lines-to apply to the legislator for the passage ????) to pay Town indebtedness and to pay for Road and Bridges to be repaired and built here of ? and said loan to be paid by installments.
VOTED That William Doran be allowed ten dollars for the use of house at this election
VOTED That the Town Meeting do adjourn to meet at the Village Hall next year on the day appointed by law at Nine O’clock A.M.
The following named persons having received the greatest number of votes are declared elected to the several offices for which they are respectfully named to wit.

The following named persons were duly chosen overseers of highways in and for the respective road districts to which they are named as follows to wit.

We the Board Officers of the Town of Palmyra at the Annual Town Meeting held therein on the
2nd day of March 1858 do certify that we have and do hereby appoint the following named persons to be Inspectors of Election respectively in the two Election Districts in said town
to wit. William Foster District No. 1 and Nelson Reeves in District No. 2 in Palmyra aforesaid.
The said William Foster and Nelson Reeves having received the greatest number of votes for
Inspectors of Election for the respective districts to which they are named next to the inspector duly Elected by the People. Given under our hands this 2nd day of March 1858 at Palmyra
