Tuesday 6th of April, 1847
At the annual Town meeting of the inhabitants of the town of Palmyra held pursuant to adjournment at the Public House occupied by Butler Newton in the Village of Palmyra on tuesday the sixth day of April 1847.
Present
and Presiding
Frederick Smith, Isaac E Beecher, and James Hubbell justices of the peace in and for said town and Charles A Hart Town clerk it vas
Voted that three constables be chosen for the ensuing year
Voted that there be chosen one overseer of the pooor for the ensuing year
Voted that there be one ? Master for the ensuing year
Voted Thomas Rogers be chosen ? Master for the ensuing year
Voted that the supervisors pay to John W Gilbert the amount of Tax overpaid by said Gilbert for the year 1846 when being satisfied by /? Or otherwise that a mistake occurred.
Voted that the supervisor pay to Edward A Allen the amount of tax overpaid by said Allen for the year 1846 upon being satisfied by ? or otherwise that a mistake occurred.
Voted the the supervisor pay to Butler Muton the ? of five dollars for the use of his house in holding the election this day and at previous times.
The report of William Beal supervisor having been read was accepted.
The report of the Commissioners of Highways for said town having been read upon a recommendation of said Commissioners it vas
Voted that the supervisor be authorized and directed to raise by tax on said town the ? of one hundred dollars for repairing roads and bridges and paying the debt of said town.
The following named persons having received the greatest number of votes are declared duly elected to the several and respective offices for which they are respectively named to wit:

We the board of town officers of the town of Palmyra at the annual town meeting held therein on the 6th day of April 1847 do certify that we have and we do hereby appoint the following named persons to be Inspectors of Election respectively in the two election districts to wit: James Seeley one of the inspectors of election for the election district number one in the said town of Palmyra and Jacob Norris one of the inspectors of election for district number two in Palmyra aforesaid. The aforesaid James Seeley and Jacob Norris having received the greatest number of votes for Inspectors for inspectors of electionfor the respective district for which they are named next to the inspectors duly elected by the people.
Given under our hands at Palmyra in town meeting aforesaid this 6th day of April 1847

Whereas by the 4th section of the act entitled an act relating to excise and the licensing ? of intoxicating liquors passed May 14th 1845 it is made the duty of the Justice of the Peace of any town whenever a petition shall be presented to them signed by one fourth of so many of the legal voters of such town as shall haved voted at the last preceeding election requesting them the said Justices to present the question of License or No License again to the electors to give notice that such question will be presented to them such petition or request as the law in such cases require have been presented to us. We do therefore hereby give notice to the electors of the town of Palmyra that the question of License of No License will be presented to them for their consideration and decision on Tuesday next being the 27th day of April 1847 at the ? of Butler Newton in the village of Palmyra at 10 oclock am

Whereas at a meeting of the gratified voters of the town of Palmyra held April 27th 1847 at the house of B Newton for the purpose of again testing the question of License or No License persuant to the act entitled an act relating to excise and to licensing ? of intoxicating liquors passed may 14th 1845.
Then were three hundred and eighty two votes polled upon
which were written on printed the words No License and then were one hundred
and eighty eight votes polled in which written on printed the words License
showing a majority of ninety seven votes against
? of License for the sale of intoxicating liquors passed May 14th
1845.

inespedient? And unnecessary will not at thistime make any alteration in the
existing election district of said town and that the election during the year

Voted that the supervisor pay John Chapman the amount of tax overpaid by said Chapman for the year 1847
Voted that the supervisors pay to Rev E A Plath? The amount of tax overpaid by said E A Platt? For year 1847
The report of the commissioners of highways having been read upon recommendation of said commissioners it vas
Voted the supervisor be authorized and directed to raise by tax on said town the sum of three hundred and fifty dollars in addition to the sum allowed by law to pay for constructing and repairing roads and bridges
Voted resolved that the supervisor be requested to institute an immediate and thorough search for the recent ? of this town and that there be an ? to ? any necessary ? for that object at the cost of the town

We the board of town officers of the town of Palmyra at the annual town meeting held therein on the 4th day of April 1848 do certify that we have and do hereby appoint the following named persons to be inspectors of elections repsectively in two election districts to wit Samuel Palmer one of the inspectors of election for the election district number one in said town of Palmyra and Jacob Norris one of the Inspectors of election for district number 2 in Palmyra aforesaid the said Samuel Palmer and Jacob Norris having received the greatest number of votes for inspectors of election for the inspection district for which they are named ? so the inspector next ot the inspection duly elected by the people.
