Tuesday 5th day of April 1842

 

 

At the annual Town Meeting of the inhabitants of the town of Palmyra held pursuant to adjournment at the public house occupied by Asa Lilly in the Village of Palmyra on tuesday the 5th day of April 1842.

 

                                                Present

Frederick Smith Isaac E Beecher Ambrose Salisbury and George W. Cuyler Esquires Justices of the Peace in & for Said town & Wm. F. Aldrich Town Clerk

 

Voted – That three assessors and Five Constables be chosen for the ensuing year—

 

The following named persons having received the greatest number of votes are declared duly elected to the several and respective offices for which they are respectively named Viz:

Voted – That the sum of two dollars be refunded to Horatio Johnson for error in tax in 1841.

 

Voted – That the sum of One Dollar and fifty cents be refunded to Josiah Hathaway for error in tax in 1841.

 

Voted – That the Board of Supervisors of this County are hereby authorized to cause to be raised by tax on this town the ensuing year Five Hundred Dollars in addition to the Sum now allowed by law to pay for constructing or repairing roads and bridges in Said town.

 

Voted – That this meeting stand adjourned until the first Tuesday of April next then to be held at the Public House now kept by Asa Lilly in the village of Palmyra at 9 oclock A. M.

Town of Palmyra – By virtue of the power vested in us – Commissioners of Highways of said town and pursuant to the Statute in such case made

                     and provided, do by these presents appoint Hendee Parshals overseer of Highways for road district number Thirteen – Charles Curtis for Road District Number Fourteen – Sebecus (?) Hammond for road district number twenty-seven, and David Knowles for Road district number thirty-two – Given under our hands this 27th day of April, 1842.             A.
