Minutes – 1830
At the annual town meeting of the inhabitants of the Town of Palmyra held at the Presbyterian Meeting House on Tuesday, April 6th, 1830, present: Frederick smith, Alexander R. Tiffany, Ambrose Salisbury, and William Willcox, Esquires, Justices of the Peace of said town and Inspectors of said election.
Voted that we choose but three assessors.
Voted that we choose but four constables.
Voted that we choose the Town Sealer by ballot.
Voted that the other officers to be chosen at this meeting be chosen by ayes and noes.
Voted that the time of holding the annual town meeting of this town be on the first Tuesday of April.
The following persons having received the greatest number of votes are declared duly elected to the several and respective offices: Ambrose Salisbury – Supervisor

Voted that the vote to choose a Pound Master be reconsidered.
Voted that the sum of $150 be raised for the support of the poor of said town.
Voted that Fence Viewers be allowed $.75 per day for their services.
Voted that this meeting stand adjourned until the first Tuesday of April next, then to be opened at Ambrose Salisbury’s dwelling house at 10:00 a.m. Marline W. Willcox, Town Clerk

At a special town meeting held at the Presbyterian Meeting House in the Village of Palmyra on May 4th, 1830, present: Frederick Smith, Esq., one of the Justices of the Peace for the Town of Palmyra. On motion: Voted that James White serve as clerk of said meeting.
The meeting then proceeded to elected by ballot a person to fill the vacancy of one Commissioner of Highways caused by the neglect of Benjamin Cole to take the necessary oath within the time prescribed by law. Thereupon George W. Cuyler was declared to have been duly elected to fill said vacancy.
On motion, the meeting then adjourned without delay.
