1819 Minutes
Record from the minutes of the laying out of a public highway an actual survey according as the needle of the old town compass now hangs, beginning in the center of a public highway leading from Colonel David White’s southerly to Farmington and directly opposite the southeast corner of Rowland Bird’s now dwelling house, thence east 8 ½ degrees, north 222256 rods to where it intersects a road leading from Barnhart’s mill to Farmington and 32 rods southerly from the northeast corner of Lot No. 2 now owned by George Crane.

Record from the minutes of the alteration of a public highway on the line between the Towns of Palmyra and Williamson, beginning in the center of the highway on said line between the lands owned by Gardner Wise and Gabriel Dean, thence west of said line 26 rods to where it intersects the road formerly laid on said line.

Record from the minutes of an alteration of a public highway running northerly from Benjamin Cole’s towards Williamson, beginning 10 rods south from said Cole’s north line in the center of the old road, thence north 6 degrees, west 80 rods, thence north 8 degrees, west 22 rods, thence north 10 degrees, west 50 rods to a road on the north line of Palmyra adjoining the Town of Williamson. The above minutes are given according to the old town compass.

Record from the minutes of the survey of a public highway beginning 24 rods south of a brook crossing the road south of Isaac Sweeney’s now dwelling house, thence west - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Record from the minutes of the survey of a public highway at the request of twelve freeholders of the Town of Palmyra on oath stating that they think a public highway to be necessary through Isaac Sweeney’s improved lands; therefore we accordingly beginning 26 rods south of a small brook in the old road south of said Sweeney’s house at a stake in the center of the old road, thence west 7 degrees, south 106 rods to where it intersects a north and south road on or near Silas Norris’ west line. The above minutes are given according as the needle of the old compass now hangs.

Record from the minutes of an alteration of a public highway running southerly from Williamson to Mud Creek by William Luce’s house in Palmyra, beginning in the center of the road on the line between the lands of Toil(?) Stafford and William Luce 32 rods north of said Stafford’s southeast corner, thence south 1 degree west as the needle of the town compass hangs at this time, 220 rods on the line of lots to where it intersects a road leading by Joseph L. Horton’s and Samuel Clarke’s, and we do hereby discontinue so much of said road as was laid from the above described beginning of alterations to intersect the road leading out north of James Reeves to Williamson, which this new survey is to substitute in place of the old one.

Record from the minutes of the alteration of a public highway leading easterly by Joseph L. Horton and Samuel Clark’s, beginning at a basswood sapling 2 rods east of a swale in the center of the old road on the line of land owned by Joseph L. Horton and Paul Goldsmith, thence south 89 degrees, east 35 rods to a soft maple tree, thence south 25 degrees, east 12 rods to where it intersects a north and south road and likewise from the last described bounds north 225 degrees, east 14 rods to where it intersects the above described north and south road, and we do hereby discontinue so much of the former survey of said road as becomes useless by this new survey. The above minutes are given according as the needle of the old town compass hangs at this time.

We, the undersigned do hereby direct that Lot No. 48 in Township No. 12, 3rd Range and all that part of Lot No. 25 in said township belonging to Enoch Hill be and the same is hereby set off from School District No. 19 and attached to School District No. 8 in said town and all that part of Lots No. 22 and 23 in said township belonging to Lemuel Shear be and the same is hereby set off from School District No. 19 and attached to School District No. 10 in Palmyra.

At the annual town meeting held in the meetinghouse in the Village of Palmyra on Tuesday, April 6th, 1819. Present: Ira Selby, Frederick Smith, and Abraham Spear – Justices of the Peace, inspectors of said meeting. Meeting being opened, the Supervisor made his annual report to the town. A notice was then read purporting that a petition would be presented to the next legislature for a division of the town.
Voted: David White serve as Supervisor the year ensuing.
Voted: James White serve as Town Clerk the year ensuing.
Voted: Abraham Spear, N. H. Beckwith, and Stephen Sherman serve as Assessors the year ensuing.
Voted: Thomas Rogers, II, Luman Harrison, and Isaac Durfee serve as Commissioners of Highways the year ensuing.
Voted: Henry Jessup and Pardon Durfee serve as Overseers of the Poor the year ensuing.
Voted Calvin Bradish serve as Collector the year ensuing.
Voted: Ashley Vanduzen, Daniel Hendee, Asa R. Swift, and Stephen Reeves serve as Constables the year ensuing.
Voted: Darius Comstock, James White, and Henry Jessup serve as Commissioners of Schools the year ensuing.
Voted: Jesse Townsend, Baruch Beckwith, Thomas Lakey, John Lapham, William P. Richardson, and Zachary Aldrich serve as Inspectors of Schools the year ensuing.

Voted that the Overseers of Highways serve as Fence Viewers the year ensuing.
Voted James White serve as Sealer of Weights and Measures the year ensuing.
Voted that swine and geese are not free commoners the year ensuing and that the owners of swine and geese pay all damages which any person may sustain by swine or geese.
Voted that the law respecting horses be and remain the same as was passed in this meeting in the year 1817 and recorded on page 207.
Voted that a fine of $5 shall be paid by any person who shall permit his or her ram sheep to run at large between August lst and November 1st. Said fine shall when collected be applied for the benefit of the poor.
Voted that sheep shall not be free commoners.
Voted the law respecting wolves stand as passes in 18115.
Voted that the sum of $150 be raised in said town for the benefit of the poor the year ensuing.
Voted that $10 be raised in said town for the purpose of procuring suitable brands and stamps for sealing weights and measures.
Voted that any person who shall permit his or her neat cattle to run at large and damage any person in the highway between December 1st and April 15th shall forfeit and pay $2 for the benefit of the poor of said town.
Voted this meeting be adjourned until the first Tuesday in April next, then to be opened in this place at 10:00 a.m.

It is agreed on the 25th day of August, 1819, between the Commissioners of Highways for the Towns of Palmyra and Lyons that the south half of a bridge over Mud Creek and 54 rods of the road north and south of said bridge on the line between the Towns of Palmyra and Lyons shall be attached to and supported by the Town of Palmyra and that the north half of said bridge and 25 rods of the south end of said road on said line be attached to the town of Lyons and kept in repair by the same.

Record from the minutes of the alteration of a public highway beginning in the center of the highway 15 rods east of the northwest corner of Lot No. 13 in Township No. 12, 3rd Range, thence westerly on a straight line to the town line 3 rods north of the aforesaid corner.

The undersigned Commissioners of Common Schools for the towns of Palmyra and Farmington, do determine and declare that that part of School Districts No. 1 and 2 in the Town of Palmyra containing Lots No. 46, 50,and 53, and 50 acres of Lot No. 37 belonging to the heirs of Nathaniel Terry in Township No. 12 in the 2nd Range of Townships and Lots No. 25 and 78 in Township No. 11 in the 2nd Range in the Town of Farmington being a part of School District No. 7 in said Town of Farmington be and the same is hereby known by the name of School District No. 21 in the town of Palmyra.
