March 24th, 1812.  A record of a division of the 1st Road District from page 152 as done by Nathan Comstock, Nathan Harris, and George Culver, Commissioners of Highways; viz., beginning at the south line of the road running east and west on the north side of Mud Creek at the school house near Abraham Speers, thence south to south line of road running east and west on the south side of said Mud Creek near Richardson’s Store, thence east to the east line of the Canandaigua Road near Dick Ensworth’s house, thence south to the town line.  Also the road leading south from Dick Robinson’s house to the town line is to be added to the above district, transferred to page159.

 

March 24th, 1812.  Those portions of road hereafter described are added to the 2nd Road District; viz., beginning on the north bank of Mud Creek near Joseph Colt’s distillery, thence south to the south line of the street in the Village of Palmyra at the junction of the Canandaigua Road, thence east to the west boundary of the 2nd Road District as recorded on page 118, thence south to the town line, also that portion of road beginning at the south end of bridge on Mud Creek near Harrison’s mill and running south to the road running east and west by James Galloway is amended to the 2nd Road District.  (Referred to the bottom of this page.)

 

11th Road District.  The 11th Road District beginning as on page 120 running north to the line between Benjamin Woods and Nathan Stuart and including all the roads of the said line as on page 120.

 

The 24th Road District bounded south by the last described road and including all that part of the 11th Road District north of the line between Benjamin Woods and Nathan Stuart as recorded on page 120.

 

18th Road District.  That part of the 20th road district lying between David White’s distillery and Richardson’s store on the south side of Mud Creek is added to the 18th Road District.  (Altered from page 130.)

 

April 6th.  1st Road District to remain as on page 152 by Nathan Comstock and George Culver, Commissioners of Highways.

 

2nd Road District to remain as on page 118 with the addition of the road to Harrison’s mill.  (See top of the page.)

 

 

At the annual town meeting held in the meeting house in the Village of Palmyra on the first Tuesday in April, 1812, Ira Selby, Festus Goldsmith, and James Reeves, justices of the Peace – Inspectors of said meeting.

 

Resolved that Gain Robinson serve as Town Clerk for the ensuing year.

 

Resolved Pardon Durfee serves as Supervisor for the ensuing year.

 

Resolved that Edward Durfee, David Willcox, and Barnabas Brown serve as Assessors for the ensuing year.

 

Resolved that Nathan Comstock, John Russell, and Luman Harrison serve as Commissioners of Highways for the ensuing year.

 

Resolved that Noah Porter and Nathan Comstock serve as Overseers of the Poor.

 

Resolved that Nathan Harris serve as Collector for the ensuing year.

 

Resolved to elect for the ensuring year four constables.

 

Resolved that Nathan Harris, Robert R. Blackman, James Benjamin, and Reuben Starks – Constables for the ensuing year.

 

Resolved that the following men serve as Overseers of Highways for the ensuing year in the following road districts; viz.

Resolved that Pathmasters serve as Fence Viewers for the ensuing year.

 

Resolved to direct the Supervisor to procure a suitable spot of ground near the center of the Town of Palmyra for the purpose of erecting a pound and cause the same to be erected as soon as convenient and the expenses accruing for the same to be defrayed out of the monies raised for the contingent expenses of the town.

 

Resolved that the Supervisor shall procure for the town a standard for the sealing of weights and measures.

 

Resolved that Zachariah Blackman serve as Sealer of Weights and Measures for the ensuing year.

 

Resolved that the town shall give a bounty for killing noxious birds and animals; viz. for black and gray squirrels four cents per head.

For crows and blackbirds, two cents; and for ground squirrels, one cent per head as names hereafter.

 

Resolved all persons who may kill any species, or all of the above described birds or animals between the day of the date hereof and the first day of May next and not after, shall produce the head of the above names bird or animal to a committee chosen by the town for the purpose of determining the right of the person who may exhibit the above named birds to the specified bounty above named which committee is hereafter named, who are to execute an oath of the person bringing heads that the said animals were killed within the bounds of Palmyra and also that they were not killed or taken on the Sabbath Day.

 

Resolved that Ira Selby, Levi Ward, and James Reeves, Esq. be the above named committee.

 

Resolved that swine of any kind and also geese shall not be free commoners for the ensuing year.

 

Resolved that the law respecting common horses and noxious weeds stand as it did last year.

 

Resolved that any person within the bounds of Palmyra who shall permit his or her ram to run at large from the first day of September and the first day of November next ensuing shall pay a fine of $2.50, one-half of said sum to be paid to the complainant and the other half to the Poormasters for the use of the poor and the said ram may be castrated with impunity.

 

Resolved that the town meeting be adjourned sine die.

October 24, 1812.  A record of the minutes of an alteration of a road as surveyed by Luman Harrison and George Culver, Commissioners of Highways; viz., beginning on the east side of the highway at the northwesterly corner of a piece of land owned by Isaac Thayer and Calvin Perrin containing three acres, thence running north 29 degrees, west 98 rods to a stone, thence west 42 degrees, north 30 rods until it intersects the old road.  The old road which is intersected by the above defined road as which occasioned the above described road is hereby discontinued.

 

October 20th, 1812.  A record from the minutes of a highway as surveyed by Nathan Comstock and George Culver, two of the Commissioners of Highways; viz., beginning on the west line of the highway leading from Mud Creek by David Warner’s to Canandaigua opposite the dwelling house of George Crane, thence west 76 rods, thence west 10 degrees, south 48 rods, thence west 6 degrees, south 80 rods, thence west 24 degrees, north 24 rods to a road running in a westerly direction by Ethan Lapham’s house.

 

March 6th, 1812.  A record from the minutes of a road as surveyed by Nathan Comstock and John Russell, two of the Commissioners of Highways; viz., beginning on the center line of Lot No. 65 on the road running east and west by Watson Robinson’s dwelling house, thence running east on the line between Benjamin Hoag and John VanDusen’s land until it intersects a road running north and south by the said Benjamin Hoag’s.  The length of said road from its beginning to its termination being 266 rods.

 

1812.    A record from the minutes of a private road for the use and at the request of Israel Delano as surveyed by Nathan Comstock and John Russell, two of the Commissioners of Highways for the present year; viz., beginning on the north line of a road running east and west by William Porter’s on the southeast corner of Israel Delano’s land, then running north 18 degrees, west 12 rods, thence north 3 degrees, west 45 rods, thence north 13 rods to the dwelling house of the said Delano.

1812.    A record from the minutes of a road as surveyed by Nathan Comstock, Luman Harrison, and John Russell, Commissioners of Highways for the present year; viz., beginning in the center of a highway running northerly from Mud Creek by Paul goldsmith to Pultneyville 4 rods south of Job Durfee’s dwelling house, thence west 1 degree, north 42 rods, thence west 21 degrees, south 30 rods, thence west 42 degrees, south 27 rods, thence west 48 degrees, north 14 rods, thence west 17 degrees, north 14 rods, thence west 13 degrees, north 18 rods, thence west 52 rods to a highway running north and south by Benjamin Cole’s dwelling house.  A true copy.

We, the subscribers being Fence Viewers in and for the Town of Palmyra being duly cited by Solomon Gill for the purpose of making a just division of the fences on the line between the lands of the said Solomon Gill and William Jackway’s and after viewing and considering the said division line between them, we do order and determine that the said Jackway shall make or cause to be made and maintain the fence on said line from the south bank of Mud Creek 14 rods to a stake from thence the said Gill shall make or cause to be made and maintained said fence 14 rods and 2 links to the north side of the village street in Palmyra and from the south side of said street south on said line 69 rods and 6 links to a stake and stone and from thence the said Jackway shall make or cause to be made and maintained of said fence being 69 rods and 6 links to the south end of their said respective lands.

 

In witness whereof we have hereunto set our hands this 27th day   of August, 1812.
